The Windows version of Swordfish requires a compatible Microsoft .NET framework to be installed. Click the accompanying .NET framework download link below the Windows download link to install the framework if you do not already have it installed.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter an error message when downloading Swordfish, click on the ‘Details’ button. A text file will open. On the text file menu, click ‘Edit’ and then select ‘Find’ – a dialog box will appear prompting for text to search for. Enter the digits ‘407’ and click ‘Find next’.

If the text is found, the sentence will be: "The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required".

To correct this:

1. Browse to the following folder: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\V2.xxxxx\CONFIG\ (where xxxxx is the highest number if more than one V2 exist).
2. Find the ‘machine.config’ file, and right-click the mouse on it.
3. Select ‘Open with’ from the pop-up menu and then select to open the file with Notepad.
4. Scroll to the very bottom of the file, copy the following lines:

Proxy server with same authentication as your server (If you are unsure try this option first)

Proxy server with different address (Check IE – Tools / Internet Options / Connections / LAN Settings)

5. Paste these lines just before the last line ( ) in the machine.config file.
6. Log off from windows and log back in or restart your PC.
7. Now return to the web site to download Swordfish.

Unfortunately this is an bug that Microsoft is aware of, so hopefully it will be eliminated in future releases. Thankfully, you only need to perform this task once and it will work for all subsequent OTS updates.
